Week 1

Animation 14/09/2011
In our first animation lesson we were introduced into the animation module (understanding the media 1) and we went through the handbook reading about the marking criteria and looked through the delivery timetable, and at what we will be doing over the next 13 weeks, and what subjects we will studying.

After going through the handbook we started researching into each area that we will be doing. First was 2D animation, i looked into the brief history of it, and then looked into how its done and which companies do it for profession. And i did this for each area we are looking into.

The most important thing I've found out was that the first form of animation was a (although there is conflicting evidence) Thaumatrope, a device that used the theory of 'persistence of vision'.  This is significant to me because it gives the knowledge of the start of animation, and i can compare modern animation with the very start basically comparing back.

Specialist pathway 16/09/2011
In this lesson we were given an brief description of what we are doing for the module. And then we discussed what we were doing in the lesson. We read through a list of 106 buildings and we were to pick on building to build in Autodesk Maya, there was several that liked, for example the HSBC building and falling water, but i decided to pick the Sydney Opera House, i got the the blueprints for it and took them into Autodesk Maya and when looking at the blueprints i realized how complicated it was, then using a EP curve i extruded the blueprints up.

The lesson help with refreshing my mind on how to use Autodesk Maya since i haven't used it much over the summer.
